Kawainui Marsh, Kailua
An 11-day trial run with the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources tested the A18 for mongoose control across Kawainui Marsh. Forty-four traps were deployed on roughly 50-metre spacings, with tracking tunnels monitoring mongoose presence at twelve sites from start to finish.
Over the trial, mongoose tracking rates fell from 58% to 8%, and twelve mongoose were removed from the project area — evidence that automatic kill-trapping can suppress a mongoose population without introducing poison into a sensitive wetland system.

Is it safe around kids, pets, and livestock?

Why aren't there dead mongooses under my trap?
This is completely normal. Scavenging animals — feral cats, pigs, dogs, and other wildlife — frequently remove dead mongooses from the trap area. Since the trap is toxin-free, scavenged mongooses pose no risk to predators. Use the Digital Strike Counter to confirm your trap is firing.
What bait should I use in the DIY lure basket?
Mongooses are carnivores, so they respond best to meat, egg, and fish-based scents rather than nuts or seeds.
